Trip to China & the 6th Confucius Institute Conference

The Executive Director of the Confucius Institute in Quebec, Meng Rong and the Chinese Director of the Institute, Professor Gao were both present at the 6th Confucius Institute Conference in Beijing, China, held from December 12th - 14th, 2012.  Representing the Board of the Confucius Institute in Quebec and Dawson College at the Conference was the Director General, Richard Filion and Dean of Program Services and International Development, Donald Walker.

2011 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp

The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp, a camp geared specifically for Canadian high school students, was completed successfully on August 1st, 2011 in Qunming City, Yunnan Province, China. This fun-filled, animated two-week camp was organized by the Confucius Institute in Quebec and was comprised of young people from various local Montreal high schools. Confucius Institute teacher Hanqing Shui, was the leader of this wonderful camp experience.


Teacher won award during the training in China

During the week of June 28th to July 5th, 2011, the 4th training session on The Great Wall texts was held at the Confucius Institute Headquarters in China. Eighty-two Confucius Institutes, including more than 120 teachers and directors, participated in this training session. Participants from Confucius Institutes in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France and South Korea were present. Min dong and Fang Wang, two teachers from the Confucius Institute in Quebec at Dawson College, also participated in the training which included special methods and a support program for teachers using The Great Wall texts.


The Third Traditional Wushu Championship in Québec & The First International Tai Chi Chen Tournament

The Traditional Wushu Championship and the International Tai Chi Chen Tournament were held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011 at the Centre Jean-Claude Malépart, in Montréal. This event was co-organized by the Confucius Institute in Québec, the Sino-Wushu Academy of Montreal and Dawson College . Sponsors included the City of Montreal, the University of Sherbrooke, the Jiahua School of Montreal, the Montreal Wushu Institute, the Shaolin Chan Wu Training Center of Montreal and others.

The Eternal Rabbit Festival

The Eternal Rabbit Festival is a variety show that was co-hosted by The Confucius Institute in Quebec and the Canadian Association of Oriental Fine Arts at the Dawson College theatre, on Saturday March 19, 2011. The Festival is a celebration of the Lunar New Year and the eternal rebirth that comes with spring. The performances included instrumental musical arrangements, singing, dancing, painting, poetry reading, Beijing Opera, acrobatics and martial arts.


Nanjing University Traditional

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Canadian CIs invited to the Nanjing University Traditional Instruments Orchestra who performed on February 10, at Confucius Institute in Quebec to a full house.
